On the way out of the office this afternoon, knowing that my coworker would be hosting a New Year's Eve party, I said to him: "Enjoy your party."
He said to me: "Thanks. Enjoy your quiet time."
What's funny is that this is a new job as well as a fairly new coworker; also funny how quickly they catch on.

Hello my friend. I have been too busy for too long and have lost track of much.
In my catching up of your days I found myself smiling, crying and on pins and needles. I regret having missed everything. It seems as you have found a place that is comfortable for you and they understand you at the least a small portion.
I can empathize with the job search and interviews. You have an advantage though. You are not a small Chinese woman competing in traditional male jobs. :-) I did not find employment at university as I had hoped though I did befriend some who are employed there so all is not lost. I did find a position at a consulting firm. It is small so there is not worries of travel commanding my life and it is understood that my family is my priority.
Perhaps I will return to writing soon. I do miss it in a small way.
Hi, Mei, I'm glad you're in touch again, old friend. :-) It's been quite a while! I just read your most recent post, and I'm still not sure where you and your family landed after all this time. Regardless, I'm sure it's been a whirlwind.
Congratulations on the new job, at least, and I hope you're able to build a new home wherever you are, at least for a while.
And please do return to writing. I've missed it.
