What It Takes To Be A Good Sniper

I took off my headphones and was ready to get up to leave the office for the day when a coworker looked over and laughed.

"What?" I asked.

"Apparently you're a good shot?"

"I am?"

And then I noticed the toy guns that some of the other office workers were playing with. Another coworker said, "Yeah, you know: Still waters."

More laughter.

"Oh," I said. "I think I should be offended."

"Still waters run deep" is a phrase used commonly to describe quiet people and introverts. The co-worker implied that quiet people are good at shooting, probably because it's often reported in the news that shooters "keep to themselves" or are "loners" and so on. It's a common misconception, and it's unfortunate that so many people are afraid of what they don't know. A person who doesn't socialize very much doesn't necessarily have anything horrible to hide.

You're welcome. Also, that quote ended up being more of a reference. Anyway, hope you enjoy. :-)
